Luminent Inc. and Fiberxon Inc. will now be known by the name Source Photonics, the companies have announced. The name change reflects the operation of the two companies as a combined business under a unified management team since MRV Communications acquired Fiberxon this year. Luminent is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chatsworth-based MRV Communications. Combining the companies into one optimizes the supply chain and manufacturing lines resulting in reduction of production costs, said Source Photonics CEO Near Margalit. Source Photonics develops and manufacturers optical components for access, telecommunications and data communications networks.
