Flurry of Projects At Area Hotels

There has been much activity recently concerning the expansion or construction of hotels in the greater Valley area. Here are some that have been announced or opened within the past 12 months. Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel and Convention Center: Construction started this winter on a $24 million renovation of the hotel at 2500 Hollywood Way in Burbank. The 488-room property will have remodeled guest rooms and a refurbished exterior. Pyramid Hotel Opportunity Venture II LLC of Boston bought the hotel for $125 million. Courtyard by Marriott Thousand Oaks: This three-story, 120-room complex opened late last year at 171 Newbury Road. Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village: This 270-room luxury hotel opened in December as part of the California WellBeing Institute, a $250 million health center and spa at the Ventura (101) Freeway and Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village. Sheraton Universal Hotel: Brentwood-based Lowe Enterprises in late January paid $122 million for the 436-room property. The company plans to spend $20 million on upgrading guest rooms, common areas and meeting space. Construction started last month. Courtyard Santa Clarita: Scheduled to open next month, the complex on Westinghouse Place near Vanderbuilt Way in Valencia includes 140 rooms on three floors and two meeting rooms. Homewood Suites: A three-story, 126-room hotel opened last month at 28901 Canwood St. in Agoura Hills, the first Homewood property opened in Los Angeles County by owner Hilton Hotel Corp. TownePlace Suites Thousand Oaks Ventura County: This 93-room hotel is slated to open this month at 1712 Newbury Road in Thousand Oaks. Fairfield Inn and Suites Moorpark: The Moorpark City Council is set to vote this month on a four-story, 112-room hotel on White Sage Road. Construction is scheduled to start this summer. Residence Inn Los Angeles Westlake Village: Construction is expected to finish by June on a four-floor, 160-room hotel at 30950 Russell Ranch Road. The facility also includes two meeting rooms totaling 678 square feet. Residence Inn by Marriott: Construction is expected to finish by August on a 166-room hotel at 321 S. First St. in Burbank. Embassy Suites Palmdale: Indianapolis-based Sun Development & Management Corp. plans to construct a seven-story Embassy Suites hotel in Palmdale. The project at Trade Center Drive and Avenue P-4 would include 150 rooms and a 55,000-square-foot conference center. The project could break ground later this year. , Chris Coates
