Xirrus Gets Funding, Announces Deals

Westlake Village-based wireless networking company Xirrus Inc., has announced that it has received venture funding and a new major OEM agreement for the firm. Funding will come from both August Capital and US Venture Partners, both of which will add board members to the Xirrus board of directors. Xirrus was launched last year by Dirk Gates, previously founder of Xircom which sold to Intel. Xirrus also announced an OEM deal with ADC, for wireless LAN technology. ADC will market Xirrus’ wireless LAN array family to service providers targeting enterprise Wi-Fi deployments. Xirrus’ line of wireless LAN products serve as crucial components in wireless network systems, which are increasingly being deployed in metropolitan areas. Lastly, Xirrus announced a distribution agreement with SEiCOM Communication Systems. The distributor will market Xirrus’ line of enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure equipment throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
