2 Valley Intersections to Get Traffic Cops

Traffic officers will be posted at two additional Valley intersections under the terms of an expanded plan to address traffic congestion in Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced Tuesday. Dickens Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in Sherman Oaks and Topanga Canyon Boulevard and State Route 118 in the northwest corner of the Valley will receive the new officers, who will work from 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. each day, the mayor said. Citywide, the expansion adds 20 officers to 13 additional intersections, bringing the total to 70 of the number of officers posted at intersections across the city. The officers, which fall under the city’s Department of Transportation, help control traffic, assist pedestrians, assess signal length and maintain order in intersections.
