Testronic Inc., a quality-assurance provider for video games, television and feature films, announced late last month it was acquiring two businesses.
The terms of the transactions between Croydon, U.K.-based Testronic, which has two offices in Burbank, and Giant Interactive, in New York, and Check Disc Labs Inc., (CDL) in Burbank, were not disclosed.
The deals will add 120 employees to the more than 1,500 now employed by Testronic around the world, as well as new offices in Hollywood and New York City.
Jason Gish, president of Testronic’s film and television division, based in Burbank, said that he was thrilled to create an alliance with two companies he has long respected.
“Adding Giant and CDL not only increases our offerings, but also introduces new clients that we can service and adds incredible talent to our growing team,” Gish said in a statement.
Jeff Stabenau, the owner of Giant, called the deals a great one for his entire team.
“The opportunities we have to extend our services, scale, and capabilities to our clients and further the careers of our staff are clear,” he said in a statement. “Can’t wait to get going.” Stabenau will continue to run the company.
Jonathan Burk, general manager and co-owner of CDL, also sees a bright future.
“It’s fair to say that CDL and Testronic have long been mulling over a joining of forces,” Burk said in a statement. “There are so many complementary aspects of our businesses and Jason has been a friend of mine for many years. It’s a happy moment for CDL.”
Testronic is owned by Catalis Group, a London-based provider of testing and publishing services for the video game industry.
Launched in 2005 as a DVD-authoring house, Giant Interactive has evolved into a digital services company focused on technology and emerging formats to meet the demand for consumer content consumption and distribution.
Check Disc Labs has been in business for more than 20 years, and its staff in Burbank have been involved with media quality assurance since before the inception of the DVD.
