Simulations Plus Inc. reported on Tuesday profits of $2.4 million for its third fiscal quarter. The Lancaster-based software company, which makes a platform used by the pharmaceutical industry for drug research and development, posted earnings of 13 cents a share for the period ended May 31. Earnings for the prior year were 12 cents a share. Revenue was up about 27 percent year over year to $8.6 million, compared to $6.7 million in the third quarter of 2017. The sole analyst who follows Simulations Plus had expected earnings of 13 cents a share on revenue of $8.1 million, according to Thomson Financial. Simulations Plus announced its fiscal third quarter results after trading hours on Tuesday. During the day, shares fell 75 cents, or about 3.2 percent, to close at $22.80.
