Valley hospitals were required to spend in preparation for a surge of COVID patients that didn’t materials. Now they face lower volumes of patients coming in their doors.
That has prompted marketing campaigns and lobbying efforts to bring in money.
“When you spend that kind of money and you don’t have the volume coming in, you’re talking millions of dollars in losses,” said Precious Mayes, chief executive at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley in Sun Valley.
