By MICHAEL AUSHENKER Staff Reporter WeWork has announced the opening of its first location in Woodland Hills — WeWork The Warner Center — adding more than 50,000 square feet of coworking space to the San Fernando Valley market. The news comes mere months after high-profile internal turbulence at parent company WeCompany in 2019 that saw the coworking leader’s IPO bid withdrawn, its co-founder Adam Neumann removed, and its corporate body acquired by prime financier, Japanese tech giant SoftBank, last October when Marcelo Claure, former chief executive of Sprint — a 2012 SoftBank acquisition — was charged as WeWork’s new executive chairman. WeWork at Warner Center, located at 21255 Burbank Blvd., features the brand’s signature mid-century modern-sleek decor, open floor plans, floor-to-ceiling glass and steel framing, private offices, communal workspaces and neon design elements. According to a WeWork announcement, the office and attendant community space at the Woodland Hills location can accommodate more than 900 members across three floors, which have a connecting internal staircase. “The design and decor of the common areas were inspired by the location in the Valley, offering soft seating in warm earth tones and complimenting textures,” said a WeWork spokesperson. As is the formula for WeWork, members can enjoy common-areas amenities like cold brew coffee, kombucha and tea; and the privacy of dedicated offices, which range in size from a one-person space to a 180-person WeWork Large Office. WeWork at The Warner Center is housed within a 262,696 square-foot office complex owned by Los Angeles-based Angelo, Gordon and Co. WeWork at The Warner Center — the 25th WeWork in the Los Angeles area and the 37th in Southern California — joins existing San Fernando Valley WeWork facilities at the Tower in Burbank at 3900 W. Alameda Ave.; and North Hollywood, which opened last year at 5161 Lankershim Blvd. “We are thrilled to continue our growth and expansion in California with our first location in Woodland Hills,” said WeWork California General Manager Elton Kwok in a statement. “We’ve had our eye on Woodland Hills for quite some time now. The economic health and incredible growth in the San Fernando Valley are extremely promising and we look forward to serving both small businesses and large enterprise companies in the community.” Kwok also promised that WeWork will continue expanding in the greater Los Angeles area with several more locations scheduled to unfurl in the coming months. Those new addresses, as of now, have not been disclosed. The announcement was made a few days before the state of California upped its shelter-in-place and businesses-related demands to stem the spread of coronavirus.
