Funny First In Cinedigm Playbook

Entertainment content distributor Cinedigm Corp. has inked several new deals, including one for eight of its networks with a global streaming service. The Sherman Oaks company also got distribution for Comedy Dynamics through Samsung TV Plus, the Korean consumer electronics manufacturer’s free ad-supported Smart TV video service. Comedy Dynamics is one of the eight networks that Cinedigm will make available through DistroTV, a free-to-use platform. The move further expands the company’s footprint, which already includes distribution on top streaming services and devices. The eight channels will debut on DistroTV this month. In addition to Comedy Dynamics, the others are CONtv and CONtv Anime, Dove Channel, Docurama, Chinese pop culture channel Bambu, combat sports hub Combat Go and Asian pop culture channel HallyPop. DistroTV is owned by DistroScale, a tech company based in San Bruno that works with content creators, publishers, brands and agencies to get their video before audiences. Tony Huidor, general manager of digital networks for Cinedigm, said that the company and DistroTV share a vision of redefining the traditional television experience and putting power back in the hands of the viewer. “This agreement plays an integral role in our mission to deliver our unique channels and programming to viewers all across the globe, opening up our eclectic offerings to a whole new audience,” Huidor said in a statement. “We look forward to supplying DistroTV with more of the same top-quality content that our networks are known for.” The deal to bring Comedy Dynamics to Samsung TV Plus means that viewers can enjoy the channel’s extensive library of comedy programming for free. Founded in 2008 by Brian Volk-Weiss, Comedy Dynamics is one of the largest independent producer of stand-up comedy in the United States. It also supplies audio recordings of comedians as well. Its specials have included names such as Jim Gaffigan, Tiffany Haddish, Bob Saget, Tim Allen and Kevin Hart. “We’re ecstatic to be partnering with Samsung to take another step towards our commitment to providing top-tier comedy content for the masses, no matter where you prefer to view,” Volk-Weiss said in a statement. “Comedy Dynamics gives viewers the best seat in the house every night, delivering an unprecedented library of classic and modern specials from comedy’s biggest names and brightest stars,” added Cinedigm’s Huidor in a statement.
