Lancaster to Host Mental Health Clinic

An urgent care center specializing in mental health will open later this year in Lancaster. The $16.5 million 9,900-square foot center, dubbed High Desert Mental Health Urgent Care Center, will by run by the County of Los Angeles and serve those experiencing mental illness in the Antelope Valley, according to a statement from commercial contractor Penta Building Group. Penta, along with architectural firm Carrier-Johnson + Culture, broke ground on the project Jan. 28. Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris, as well as Palmdale Mayor Steven Hofbauer and county officials from the department of mental health, health services and public works were in attendance. The facility will be the first of its kind in the Antelope Valley, with round-the-clock operations. Nurse stations, therapy rooms and offices will offer critical services and care for adults and children on an outpatient basis, according to a statement from L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “This new state-of-the-art facility will provide our Antelope Valley residents with access to high-quality, low-cost mental health services including diagnosis, treatment, referrals, case management and crisis intervention,” Barger said in the statement.
