Award Earned by SCV Economic Development Corp.

The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. announced Wednesday that it has received a significant honor from the California Association for Local Economic Development. The local economic development organization said it received an Award of Excellence in the programs category for its LiveWorkSCV.com job board. LiveWorkSCV.com matches job opportunities with local talent. After hearing from Santa Clarita Valley employers that it was difficult to find qualified, local candidates, and hearing from residents that they were tired of their long commutes, the economic development group launched the job board. Job postings are free to local employers. “We are thrilled to receive this award in recognition of LiveWorkSCV.com. This resource provides a valuable service to both local companies and residents,” said Holly Schroeder, the president and chief executive of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. The mission of the organization is to attract and retain businesses to the Santa Clarita Valley. The association, based in Sacramento, provides services to economic development agencies in the state. All winners of its contest will be announced in late March. A spokesman said individual winners have been notified and they are free to announce their awards.
