Streaming on Front Burner For Cinedigm

Cinedigm Corp. has promoted Tony Huidor to senior vice president of products and technology and general manager of digital networks. He is a seasoned industry executive with more than 25 years of experience within the entertainment industry focused on new media. Huidor had been vice president of digital operations for the Sherman Oaks entertainment content distributor for the past five years. In the role as senior vice president of products and technology, Huidor will head up managing product development across all of Cinedigm’s consumer-oriented mobile, web, set-top and connected television applications that power ad-supported and subscription-based video streaming services. As general manager of digital networks, Huidor will oversee and manage all operations of the company’s owned and operated channels and services. He will also work to expand its licensed video channel business. Additionally, he will oversee further adoption of Cinedigm’s Matchpoint streaming platform through new strategic partnerships and licensing agreements. Matchpoint became commercially available early this year. The platform allows for content providers to more easily launch streaming services; automates the distribution of content; and provides a dashboard of key performance indicators and metrics related to the streaming businesses. Erick Opeka, president of digital networks, said that Huidor was instrumental in growing and shaping Cinedigm’s digital business and also was a driving force behind the creation of Matchpoint. “We are thrilled to recognize the tremendous value and extensive expertise Tony brings to Cinedigm with this well-deserved promotion,” Opeka said in a statement. “As we continue to focus on the fast-growing and ever-evolving video streaming business, Tony will continue to serve in a critical role both strategically and executionally in helping Cinedigm adapt and excel in this competitive landscape.” Huidor recognized the legacy that Cinedigm has in the entertainment industry – from theatrical distribution to independent distributor to its current role as a leading player in the streaming ecosystem. “Now, with such a firm foundation established across the entire video streaming space, I am excited to continue working with Erick on leading the company’s OTT efforts and expanding our business,” Huidor said in a statement. “It’s an exciting time in the rapidly evolving media distribution business and I’m excited to embrace the challenges ahead.” Prior to joining Cinedigm in 2015, Huidor was vice president of technical product development for Universal Music Group Distribution. He also served as vice president of product development and operations for Universal Music. Before that, he was director of product development for Walt Disney Internet Group, where he oversaw worldwide mobile content production. Before arriving at Disney, he worked for the online unit of E! Entertainment Television and began his career at Philips Interactive Media, owned by Dutch firm Koninklijke Philips, where he led development and production of dozens of games and interactive entertainment titles.
