CommonSpirit Health Forms New Division

Dr. Nicholas Testa has joined CommonSpirit Health as chief physician executive for the newly formed southwest division, according to the health care system. CommonSpirit, based in Chicago, was formed in February through a merger between Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health, although both systems are maintaining their names in the areas they serve. Testa will oversee nine acute care hospitals and four micro hospitals in Southern California and Nevada from his office in Glendale. Dignity Health Medical Group – Northridge Family Medicine is the only hospital based the San Fernando Valley that will be affected by the restructuring, according to CommonSpirit. “I’m delighted that Dr. Testa has accepted this expanded role,” said Julie Sprengel, southwest division president for CommonSpirit Health. “Dr. Testa’s extensive knowledge, collaborative approach and passion for ensuring high quality care will serve the southwest division well.” Prior to joining Dignity Health, Testa was the chief medical officer for Providence – St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
