Lancaster BIDs Split Leadership

Destination Lancaster and the BLVD Association, business improvement districts in Lancaster, have welcomed Sandy Smith and Erika Figueroa, respectively, as newly appointed executive directors. Destination Lancaster is focused on fostering tourism in the greater Antelope Valley area while the BLVD is a property-based improvement district composed of landowners in downtown Lancaster. Figueroa assumed her role at the BLVD on May 1. Smith accepted her position at Destination Lancaster in early June. According to emailed correspondence between the Business Journal and city of Lancaster, Angela Clayborne, former executive director for both Destination Lancaster and the BLVD, has taken on a special assignment with the city of Lancaster’s administration and community services department to address such topics as homelessness in the area. Destination Lancaster decided to appoint its own executive director, rather than have the role filled by the city, officials said.
