Film Tax Credits Help Valley

National Small Business Week recently celebrated the impact and contributions of small businesses in our local communities. As a small business owner in California, I want to use this as an opportunity to highlight California’s Production Tax Incentive Program and its impact on my small business, Little Bohemia Rentals. Two years ago, my husband and I turned our dream into reality when we opened a boutique prop house that serves all kinds of film productions to create sets using our eclectic home dĂ©cor. We confidently chose San Fernando Valley for our store location because of the booming film industry that creates opportunities and demand for small businesses like ours. Thanks to the tax credit incentivizing productions to flock to California, our business is thriving. Without it, I don’t think we’d be able to continue to run our family-owned business. I have a personal message for the governor and the legislature: Thank you for supporting California’s Production Tax Incentive Program that allows us to thrive on a small piece of California’s big entertainment industry pie. We can only continue to grow and serve productions if the tax incentive program continues. We know California’s Production Tax Incentive Program will be up for renewal in 2020. We hope you will continue your generous support of film tax incentives. Like others, our small business depends on it. – Rachel Sardi Coles, North Hollywood
