Tutor Perini Subsidiary Wins Burbank Water Line Tunnel Project

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power identified Frontier-Kemper Constructors – a subsidiary of Tutor Perini Corp., the Sylmar construction company – as the low bidder for a $121 million contract to build a tunnel in Burbank. The River Supply Conduit Improvement Upper Reach – Unit 7 Project is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources Control Board. It involves the installation of 13,260 lineal feet of 78-inch welded steel water line, with 11,810 lineal feet installed inside a tunnel. The tunnel begins at Johnny Carson Park south of the 134 Freeway in Burbank and continues northwest under Whitnall Highway to join another water line near Biloxi Avenue and West Burbank Boulevard, according to LADWP. Work will commence on the project in October with an eye toward a December 2021 completion. The contract value will be included in Tutor Perini’s third quarter 2018 backlog. Shares of Tutor Perini (TPC) closed Friday up 10 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $18.25 on the New York Stock Exchange.
