Burbank Airport to Study Environmental Impact of New Terminal

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority awarded a $2.8 million contract to a Los Angeles company to prepare an environmental impact statement for a replacement terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport. RS&H California Inc. was chosen by the Federal Aviation Administration as the most qualified of the two firms responding to requests for qualifications put out by the authority. The environmental impact statement is required by the FAA and follows guidelines set in the National Environmental Policy Act. Funding to complete the report comes from an Airport Improvement Program grant of $2.4 million and matching funds in the amount of $582,300 through a Passenger Facility Charge application, which is in process with the FAA. The airport authority plans to build the 14-gate replacement terminal on 49 acres north of the existing terminal, which was built in 1930. Burbank voters approved the project in November 2016 with the passage of ballot initiative Measure B. RS&H California is a division of RS&H Inc., a Jacksonville, Fla. firm that provides architecture, engineering and consulting services for the aviation and aerospace, defense, corporate, transportation and health and science markets.
