Einstein Academy’s Lawyers Hope to Stave Off Pending Closure

Valencia charter school Einstein Academy, through its lawyers, is asking a judge for a preliminary injunction on the Los Angeles County school district’s recent decision to deny the charter school’s continued operations, according to news reports. The school was authorized to operate only until June 30, a decision by the William S. Hart Union High School District in 2012. In March, the county school district rejected the school’s request to operate beyond the June date, upholding the high school district’s decision. Less than a week ago, the Los Angeles County Superior Judge denied the Einstein Academy’s request to continue operating at an ex parte hearing. The academy has the option to take its petition to the state Department of Education. The Einstein Academy is currently a kindergarten through 12th grade operation. The decision by the Hart Union District will only affect its 7th through 12th grade operation, as the other grades are currently charted through the Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District.
