Quixote Studios, a national provider of soundstages, equipment and vehicles for film and television in Los Angeles, has bought a more than 60,000-square-foot industrial building in Sun Valley it currently rents and occupies, the company announced.
Quixote paid $12 million for 11473 Penrose St., a 6-acre site that holds trailer rental/maintenance vehicles the company uses on location shots to house actors, producers, directors, wardrobe designers, make-up artists and background talent.
"This is a unique property," Quixote President Jordan Kitaen said in a statement. "Something this large with immediate access to the 5 freeway is hard to replicate. Without a facility like this Quixote could not keep pace with growing production demand throughout the state."
The warehouse was built in 1964 and its seller, Bailey R N & C A Living Trust, paid $5.85 million for the property in 2002, according to CoStar Group Inc.
Last year, Quixote bought a 21,000-square-foot warehouse at 10244 Norris Ave. in Pacoima for $2.6 million to use for equipment rentals.
