BYD Motors Inc. received the 2016 Electric Bus of the Year Award from the Los Angeles Sustainability Council. The Los Angeles-based U.S. subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle and battery manufacturer BYD Co. Macy Neshati, senior vice president of BYD, thanked the council for the honor. “We’re proud to be growing here in Los Angeles, and to be partnering with environmental groups like (Sustainability Council) to bring clean energy technology to more and more communities,” Neshati said in a prepared statement. The company opened its Lancaster plant in 2013 and employs more than 400 people between Lancaster and its headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. The manufacturer produces seven models of buses for customers that include Antelope Valley Transit Authority, the Washington State Department of Transportation, Long Beach Transit and Stanford University.
