No. 2 Hotel in L.A.? It’s the Garland

The Garland hotel in North Hollywood has been named the No. 2 hotel in Los Angeles by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, the publication announced Tuesday, jumping three notches from its No. 5 ranking last year. “To be recognized in the Readers’ Choice Awards for the second year in a row and now as No. 2 among so many iconic and respected hotel brands in the city is an incredible honor,” Scott Mills, general manager of the Garland, said in a prepared statement. Over 300,000 participants, twice as many as last year, submitted ratings for travel destinations around the world in the 2016 “Readers’ Choice Awards,” the magazine said. The Garland’s average score held steady from the previous year at 92.7 out of 100 possible points. The L.A.-area hotel that earned the No. 1 ranking was the Montage in Beverly Hills with a score of 94.8. The Garland underwent a $20 million renovation in 2013, the final phase of which was completed last year. The Traveler’s “Readers’ Choice Award” serves as a testament to the effort’s success, owner and managing partner James Crank said in a press release. “Our goal was to continue my mother, Beverly Garland’s legacy while establishing the property as a landmark in Los Angeles,” he said. “I am humbled and grateful for this accolade and our team’s continued dedication.” The Garland is located at 4222 Vineland Ave. in North Hollywood. It was established in 1972.
