The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority released on Tuesday the final environmental impact report for a proposed new terminal at Hollywood Burbank Airport.

The Burbank Planning Board will consider the report and a development agreement between the city and authority on July 7. The airport authority board has scheduled a special meeting on July 11 to certify the report. The Burbank City Council has hearings on the project scheduled for July 25 and July 26.

The airport authority wants to build the 14-gate replacement terminal on 49 acres north of the existing terminal, which was built in 1930. The draft report evaluates the impacts the new terminal would have on air, noise and traffic as required by the California Environmental Quality Act

In addition to the 49-acre site, the study looked at the impacts if the new terminal were built on 43 acres on the airport’s southwest quadrant that is now used for general aviation hangars, air freight facilities, an air cargo building and Federal Aviation Administration maintenance and communication facilities.

Any terminal plan would have to be approved by Burbank voters, who in 2000 passed Measure B, an initiative that requires public approval of expansion or relocation of the airport’s terminal.
