Thousand Oaks biotech Amgen Inc. announced on Thursday this year’s route for its Amgen Tour of California, with the second day’s finish line in Newhall.
The eight-day, 800-mile cycling race from San Diego to Sacramento will begin on May 15. The City of Santa Clarita will host the stage 2 finish on May 16. Stage 2 is set to begin in South Pasadena and will finish 92 miles later in front of the Old Town Newhall Library on Lyons Avenue.
“We are looking forward to hosting this world-class event in Santa Clarita for a twelfth time,” Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Kellar said in a statement. “The stage 2 finish will bring international eyes to the city’s arts and entertainment district of Old Town Newhall.”
The race will be presented by AEG in Los Angeles and residents living by the route are encouraged to attend and watch.
