New Princess Ship to Sail from China

Princess Cruises has announced that a sister ship to its fleet of Royal Princess and Regal Princess will be named Majestic Princess and will cater to the Chinese market. The Santa Clarita company said Majestic Princess, a 143,000-ton vessel, will carry 3,560 guests for cruises to Japan and Korea. The ship will be based in Shanghai year-round, and will start operating in the summer of 2017. The large vessel will also have a Chinese name on the ship’s hull to represent its dedication to the Chinese market. “We’re excited that Shanghai will be welcoming this newest, most advanced addition to the Princess fleet, as it represents our brand’s long-term commitment to the continuing growth of the China market,” Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, said in a statement. Majestic Princess will offer all the amenities and features as other Princess cruises. The ship is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.
