Briefs: Cherokee, Dick’s Sporting Goods

Cherokee Global Brands will launch an assortment of clothing, accessories and footwear in more than 750 Argos stores throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as online. The Sherman Oaks apparel licensor announced on Wednesday a license agreement with Argos, a subsidiary of Home Retail Group plc, to offers these products in the fall of 2015. In addition to its stores, Argos sells through nearly 123 million customer transactions a year. Cherokee’s partnership with the retailer will include a marketing campaign, branded signage as well as social and digital media promotions. Shares closed up 6 cents, or a fraction of 1 percent, to $18.45 on the Nasdaq. This fall Dick’s Sporting Goods will set up shop at the Glendale Galleria. The athletic apparel and footwear store based in Coraopolis, Pa. will lease the space vacated by upscale clothing retailer Nordstrom in 2013. Nordstrom’s left the Galleria to open across the street at the Americana at Brand, freeing up the 75,000-square-foot space. Dick’s Sporting Goods has 550 locations nationwide, 40 of which are in California. The retailer can be found at several shopping centers in the greater Valley, including the Antelope Valley Mall in Palmdale, Soledad Crossing in Santa Clarita and in Moorpark.
