Briefs: IPC, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment

The company known as IPC The Hospitalist Co. Inc. changed its name Monday to IPC Healthcare Inc. The North Hollywood company, which provides doctors to hospitals and nursing homes, said the change reflects the changing nature of the industry, as the emphasis shifts from single episodes of care to managing patients long term. The change also reflects a strategic shift at IPC, which has added doctors in non-acute specialties such as geriatrics, behavioral health, psychiatry, pediatrics and infectious disease. IPC also announced that last year it had more than 1,800 providers in 1,600 facilities who had more than 7 million patient visits. The company’s stock will continue to trade under the IPCM ticker. Shares closed down 41 cents, or nearly 1 percent, to $45.34 on the Nasdaq. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced on Monday it will begin releasing film titles this year formatted in a new “Dolby Vision” format. The home entertainment division of the Burbank studio will start with three releases – “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Into the Storm” and “The Lego Movie” – for viewing on Dolby Vision-enabled televisions and add more releases as the year progresses. Dolby Vision, developed by Dolby Laboratories Inc., in San Francisco, is a high definition format said to have 40 times the brightness and 1000 times the contrast of televisions currently on the market. It is compatible with both existing HD sets and newer 4K sets.
