Merex Group has acquired a Florida aerospace company providing parts, maintenance and repair to military jets, the company announced Thursday. Terms of the deal between Merex, in Camarillo, and Kellstrom Defense Aerospace Inc., in Miramar, Fla., were not disclosed. Merex specializes in distributing and supplying spare parts, specialty manufacturing, and repair and overhaul for such aircraft as the F-5 fighter jet, F-16 Fighting Falcon and Bell helicopters. Kellstrom provides logistics support and other services to many of the same aircraft. The addition of Kellstrom supports Merex’s growth plans and a breadth of capability, said Chief Executive Chris Celtruda. “We expect to rapidly integrate the Kellstrom defense business and focus on connecting our combined sustainment solutions to the needs of the global operators of these important platforms,” Celtruda said in a prepared statement. Kellstrom employs a workforce of 150 and has facilities in Macon, Ga., the United Kingdom, and Australia.
