Briefs: LegalZoom, CrowdGather, IPC

LegalZoom.com Inc. on Tuesday announced the hiring of Laura Goldberg as chief marketing officer. The Glendale company, which sells self-help legal services online, said she will lead the marketing and product teams. Previous to joining LegalZoom, Goldberg was chief operating officer at Good Worldwide LLC, an online community site. Prior to that, she ran the NFL.com site and its 32 accompanying team sites. LegalZoom has announced a strategy to shift from selling single documents, such as a will or incorporation application, to subscriptions. John Suh, chief executive at LegalZoom, said Goldberg has experience with both ecommerce and subscription sales. “As we enter this new chapter of growth, we’re thrilled that she will be spearheading our product marketing efforts,” he said in a statement. Plaor Inc., a subsidiary of CrowdGather Inc., has secured rights to online casino games from two studios. CrowdGather in Woodland Hills manages online forums and plans to expand its business by offering game play to forum members. Plaor has secured social casino rights from MultiSlot Ltd. for its video slot game Tiki Land, which is expected to launch in August. Additionally, Plaor, Inc. has secured certain rights to six video games from Lightning Box Games Pt. Ltd., the first of which – Frogs n’ Flies – is expected to launch by September. The games will be incorporated into Plaor’s Mega Fame Casino & Slots platform. IPC The Hospitalist Co. Inc. has hired Jeffrey Winter to serve in the new position of senior vice president of sales and marketing, the company announced Tuesday. The North Hollywood company, which provides doctors to hospitals and nursing homes, said Winter brings broad health marketing expertise to the leadership team. Prior to joining IPC, Winter served as the vice president of new business development at Corizon Health, a prison health management company in St. Louis, Mo. Prior to that, he was chief of staff at accounting firm KPMG, coordinating business development for its health care practice.
