DineEquity Inc. announced Wednesday its subsidiary, Applebee’s, revamped its kid’s menu to include healthier choices. The new menu includes a two-tiered menu with entrée options for both older children and younger children, along with new entrée options and side choices approved by the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell nutrition program. Peter Czizek, Applebee’s vice president of culinary and menu innovation, said the menu is aimed to help families choose nutritious meal options. “Parents can concentrate on engaging with their family while knowing their growing kids can get a fun, healthy meal at Applebee’s,” he said in a statement. Shares of DineEquity closed at $83.27, down 21 cents, or less than 1 percent on the New York Stock Exchange. Communications technology company Everbridge has signed on Nassau County, Fla. for automatic weather alerts and emergency notifications. Terms of the deal between Everbridge, in Glendale, and Nassau County were not disclosed. Everbridge technology will be used to alert county residents in seconds about disasters, evacuations, road closures and tropical storms through messages to their laptops and mobile devices. Nassau County has more than 75,000 residents. Audio technology company DTS Inc. will install its DTS-HD surround sound in a premium smartphone made by Chinese company ZTE Corp., one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. The decoder made by the Calabasas company allows users to hear streamed and downloaded content using DTS-HD directly on the smartphone or when connected to a home theater system. Shares in DTS closed up 8 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $23.66 on the Nasdaq.
