Tutor Perini Corp., MannKind Corp. and LTC Properties Inc. reported earnings for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 on Monday.

Tutor Perini, a Sylmar construction company, reported net income of $23.7 million (49 cents a share) for the quarter, compared to $42.6 million (88 cents) for the same period last year. Revenue fell 6 percent to $1 billion.

Analysts on average expected earnings of 55 cents, according to Thomson Financial Network.

The company blamed its lower revenue on reduced construction of large office buildings and medical projects in California.

Shares closed up 13 cents, or less than 1 percent, to $22.85 on the New York Stock Exchange.

MannKind, a Valencia drug developer, reported a net loss of $50.8 million (-17 cents a share) for the quarter, compared to a loss of $42.8 million (-22 cents) for the same period last year. Revenue fell from $35 million to zero.

Analysts on average expected a loss of 14 cents, according to Thomson Financial Network.

The company is seeking Food and Drug Administration for its first product, an inhalable form of insulin, and blamed the loss on stock-compensation expenses.

Shares closed down 23 cents, or 4.7 percent, to $4.53 on the Nasdaq.

LTC Properties, a Westlake Village health-care real estate investment trust, reported net income of $16.4 million (47 cents a share) for the quarter, compared to $11.6 million (38 cents) for the same period last year. Revenue rose nearly 11 percent to $25.8 million.

Analysts on average expected earnings of 57 cents a share, according to Thomson Financial Network.

The company noted that it sold six nursing homes during the quarter.
