Semtech Sells Off Product Line

Semiconductor manufacturer Semtech Corp. is selling off one of its product lines to a Canadian company for an undisclosed amount. The Camarillo company sold its video optical module product line to Embrionix, a Laval, Quebec, company that makes transceivers connecting network devices to networking cables for broadcast video. The sale allows Semtech to divest itself of the non-core portion of its video component business. The deal also will establish a collaborative relationship between the two companies to develop future products. “We are excited to formalize our relationship with Embrionix,” said Gary Beauchamp, senior vice president of Semtech’s Gennum Product Group. Shares of Semtech gained 13 cents, or less than 1 percent, to close at $33.75 on the Nasdaq.
