Teledyne Acquires Danish Sonar Company

Teledyne Technologies Inc. has added to its digital imaging business with the acquisition of Reson A/S. Terms of the deal between Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne and Reson, headquartered in Slangerup, Denmark, were not disclosed. Reson develops and manufactures multibeam sonar systems and specialty acoustic sensors for hydrography, global marine infrastructure and offshore energy operations. The Danish company’s capabilities are complementary to Teledyne’s marine instrumentation and digital imaging businesses, said Chief Executive Robert Mehrabian. “With Reson, Teledyne will possess the ability to provide detailed 3D imaging solutions, ranging from full ocean depth survey, shallow water and coastal zone imaging, terrestrial and airborne mapping, and even deep space science applications,” Mehrabian said in a prepared statement. Reson is the third acquisition Teledyne has made in 12 months focused on three-dimensional imaging.
