40 Under 40, Khorsand

Vahid Khorsand, 31 Co-principal, BWS Financial Inc. Equities Research Analyst Vahid Khorsand remains calm amid the sometimes tumultuous financial markets. The 31-year-old is co-principal at Woodland Hills-based BWS Financial. He provides fundamental analysis for institutional investor groups and analysis of the impact of federal regulations on investments and the economy. While the work can be high-pressure, he says it is also rewarding. “While my job is stressful in having to work with the volatile financial world and manage other people’s investments and life savings, I am most gratified when I see that the financial path I have built for my clients proves to be paved with success,” Khorsand said. It pays to learn from each day on the job, he says. “Whether things go right or wrong, situations have a tendency of repeating themselves. Staying focused and being calm in moments of crisis enables one to recall the lessons from the past and makes challenges easier to overcome.” Khorsand is the president-elect of the Encino Chamber of Commerce, president of the San Fernando Valley Jaycees, secretary of the LAPD Valley Traffic Advisory Council and member of the fund development committee for the Child Development Institute. In 2010, he was recognized as the California Jaycee of the Year. High goals are the key to a successful career, Khorsand said. “No goal is too high to achieve or overcome,” he said. “Most of the time you will be surprised that if you work hard, you will not only achieve, but also surpass your goals and aspirations.”
