Nomadix Settles HP Patent Lawsuit

Agoura Hills tech company Nomadix Inc. announced Tuesday that it has settled a patent infringement lawsuit brought against computer giant Hewlett-Packard Co. in 2009. Nomadix, which makes technology that regulates Internet access in public places or facilitates Wi-Fi service in large areas, said the settlement will award Hewlett-Packard with licensing rights to some of its portfolio of more than 100 patents. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the company said it plans to continue its litigation with other defendants in its lawsuit. “While Nomadix will continue to enforce its patent portfolio in litigation, it is gratifying for us to reach a settlement with Hewlett-Packard that recognizes the value of Nomadix’s patents,” said Nomadix Chief Executive Charles Reed in a statement. Nomadix is a subsidiary of DOCOMO interTouch Pte Ltd., a Singapore company that provides Internet and other services to the hospitality industry.
