Three Betsey Johnson LLC retail stores in Camarillo, Sherman Oaks and Canoga Park began liquidation sales today. The going-out-of-business sales — which include apparel, jewelry, handbags and shoes as well as racks, shelving and lighting — will continue until all merchandise has been sold, company officials said. The retail chain, which was started by eclectic designer Betsey Johnson, filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the federal Bankruptcy Code on April 26. Steve Madden Ltd owns the license to the retail chain, which is currently some $6.8 million in debt. The sales will be taking place at all 54 U.S. Betsey Johnson stores and at all nine Betsey Johnson outlets. Angela Melero
