K-Swiss Revenues Drop in the First Quarter

Westlake Village-based K-Swiss Inc. experienced a dip in revenues in the first quarter as a result of poor domestic sales. The provider of lifestyle apparel and footwear reported $69.3 million in total worldwide revenues, a 4.3 percent decrease from the $72.4 million generated for the prior year period. While international sales increased 18 percent to $48.5 million, domestic sales dropped 34 percent to $20.8 million. Despite the drop in revenue, the firm was able to narrow its net loss to $6.7 million, or $.19 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $9.8 million in 2011. The company said worldwide future orders with ship dates from April to September decreased 32 percent to $71.5 million. Domestic orders dropped significantly to $21.7 million, a 54 percent decrease from the prior year period. International orders fell 14 percent to $49.9 million. K-Swiss Chairman and President Steven Nichols said the company has much work to do in reversing its “overall backlog trend and the domestic business.” Angela Melero
