AeroVironment Receives $11.1 Million Support Contract

AeroVironment Inc. received an $11.1 million contract to provide logistics support for its unmanned Raven aircraft for the U.S. military. The contract shows that the Raven aircraft continues to be an important asset for U.S. and allied armed forces, company officials said. The Monrovia-based company designs, builds and tests its unmanned aircraft in Simi Valley. “AeroVironment’s UAS logistics operation supports systems deployed worldwide to ensure a consistently high level of operational readiness,” Tom Herring, senior vice president and general manager, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, said in a prepared statement. The Raven aircraft is launched by hand and provides real-time reconnaissance and surveillance video. Each Raven system typically consists of three aircraft, two ground control stations and spares.
