Amgen Launches Chemo Awareness Campaign

Amgen today launched an awareness campaign about chemotherapy for cancer patients and their caregivers featuring Emmy-nominated actress and breast cancer survivor Maura Tierney. Tierney was diagnosed with and treated for an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2009. The campaign, “Chemotherapy: Myths or Facts,” will encourages patients and caregivers to ask questions and arm themselves with as much information as possible. The biopharmaceutical company in Thousand Oaks said more than 650,000 patients undergo chemotherapy in the U.S. every year, but many are not aware how the treatment will impact them and don’t fully understand what’s involved. The campaign will attempt to debunk some myths and misconceptions about the treatment. Amgen will have a video booth travel across the country to collect personal stories of patients and caregivers and capture myths or facts they may have uncovered during their experience. Amgen discovers, develops and manufactures therapies against cancer, kidney disease, rheumatoid arthritis, bone disease and other illnesses. Judy Temes
