United Online Adds to its Memory Lane Business

United Online added to its high school connection business with the acquisition of schoolFeed Inc., a social media network and Facebook app. Terms of the deal between Woodland Hills-based United Online and schoolFeed Inc. were not disclosed. United Online subsidiary Memory Lane Inc. will own schoolFeed and make its 19 million registered users part of the service to connect with high school classmates and have access to online yearbooks. Lance Tokuda, schoolFeed co-founder and chief executive, and his team members joined Memory Lane upon the closing of the deal. At schoolFeed our goal was to build the same kind of community, and we’ve been very successful while going about it in a different way,” Tokuda said in a prepared statement. “We bring some innovative new capabilities to the Classmates business, such as the ability to drive growth virally, and the ability for members to join and access the site directly through Facebook.” Mark R.
