NBCUniversal has named Michael Moore as the new president and general manager of the Universal Studios operations where he will head up production and sound services, facilities and marketing.

Moore will begin his new position on Sept. 17. He replaces David Beanes who has been with NBCUniversal for 17 years.

Moore has a proven track record in the entertainment industry and the right mix of production and post-production experience to guide the Universal Studios organization, said John Wallace, president of operations and technical services.

Moore will report to Wallace and Ron Meyer, president and COO of Universal Studios.

Moore currently serves as president of Raleigh Entertainment/Raleigh Film and Television Studios LLC, one of the largest independent studios in the country.
