Thirty-six physicians who provide care to patients at Valley Presbyterian Hospital were named 2012 Southern California Super Doctors in the January issue of Los Angeles Magazine. The physicians were chosen through a peer-review selection process, the goal of which was ensuring that only the top 5 percent of the region’s physicians would be named to the list. The hospital said these doctors are widely recognized as leaders within their and have a record of professional excellence, “We congratulate our physicians on this well-deserved honor for their distinguished careers and their vital contributions to the care of our patients at Valley Presbyterian Hospital,” Gustavo Valdespino, president and CEO of Valley Presbyterian said in a statement. Key Professional Media Inc., an independent firm, sent ballots to California physicians to choose the Super Doctors. The ballots asked: “If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?” Several safeguards were used to prevent against self-nomination and ballot manipulation, Valley Presbyterian said. An expert Blue Ribbon Panel grouped the nominees into medical practice areas and assigned point totals based on individual reviews. Each doctor’s professional information was verified for accuracy.
