Woodbury University Appoints New University President

Burbank-based Woodbury University announced today Dr. Luis Ma R. Calingo as the newly-appointed president, effective July 1. Dr. Calingo will replace President Kenneth R. Nielsen, who is retiring in July but will continue to serve the university as president emeritus and as a consultant to the new president and board of trustees until June 2013. Dr. Calingo most recently served as executive vice president and chief academic officer at Dominican University in Northern California. Prior to that, he served as dean of the Boler School of Buisness at John Carroll University along with dean of the College of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach. “I know you all join me in congratulating Dr. Calingo and conveying to him our support, as we continue to work together to build on the strong foundation and remarkable achievements of Woodbury University over the past 16 years, under the outstanding leadership and vision of President Kenneth R. Nielsen,” said Robert W. Kummer, Jr., chair, Board of Trustees, Woodbury University, in a prepared statement. Angela Melero
