The Glendale Chamber of Commerce has launched a new program aimed at cultivating the next generation of city leaders.

The Glendale Young Professionals program will host its first official event Thursday night at the Glendale Hilton. The group was launched in December.

Chamber director Louie Sadd, who serves as chair of the new group, said many young business people felt the chamber, founded in 1910, just wasn’t for them.

The young professionals program aims to change that perception and provide young people “an outlet to meet other professionals … and get (them) involved in the business community,” said Sadd, the 29-year-old co-founder of Glendale-based Datastream LLC.

Sport Chalet CEO Craig Levra is the keynote speaker at the organization’s first event.
