Chatsworth-based MRV Communications Inc. has a new chief executive, the latest appointment in a string of management changes at the optical communications provider.
The new CEO, Barry R. Gorsun, previously served as president of MRV’s Optical Communications Systems (OCS) division, the company said in a news release Friday.
Over the last year, the company has been pushed by activist shareholders to return cash to stockholders, decrease its number of directors and make other changes. The shareholders have won a number of concessions, and the company’s board is now down to four from eight in December.
“MRV will continue to execute its tactical plan to maximize value for stockholders and enhance our quality, support and delivery efforts,” Gorsun said in a statement.
Former interim chief executive and CFO Chris King will remain with the company until March 30 or when MRV files is annual report for 2011, the company has previously said.
Former OCS vice president of sales and marketing David Stehlin becomes president of the division.
