Ixia has completed its acquisition of cyber security testing firm BreakingPoint Systems, a deal valued at $160 million. Calabasas-based Ixia will retain employees of BreakingPoint and its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Dennis Cox will become Ixia’s vice president, security and applications. The BreakingPoint purchase allows Ixia to offer an end-to-end service that monitors, tests, and optimizes converged networks Information technology infrastructures are vulnerable to advanced malicious attacks due to dynamic and evolving applications, said Ixia President and CEO Vic Alston “Through our strategic acquisition of BreakingPoint, Ixia can now provide these organizations with the actionable insight needed to make more informed security investments, harden security postures, improve performance and ensure business continuity,” Alston said in a prepared statement.
