Cameron-Pace Announced Chinese Joint Venture

The Cameron-Pace Group has set up a joint venture in China to provide 3D camera technology to that country’s filmmakers. Cameron-Pace, based in Burbank, has partnered with Tianjin North Film Group and Tianjin Hi-tech Holding Group. The firm is co-owned by director James Cameron and camera inventor Vince Pace. Cameron made the announcement of the venture on Aug. 7 at a 3D film forum at Tianjin Polytechnic University. The China division of Cameron-Pace will provide 3D camera technology to filmmakers but not get into film production, Cameron said in an interview with Reuters. “We’re not going to tell Chinese film makers how to make movies,” Cameron was quoted in the interview. “We are going to help them make a transition to 3D production technology as cost effectively as possible, and in a way that doesn’t inhibit creativity.” Mark R.
