Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital was recognized at the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge Community Service Awards for its Baby-Friendly program. The awards program honors outstanding community members. Henry Mayo’s Baby Friendly policies meet the standards set by the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The initiative encourages the education of breastfeeding procedures to new mothers and recognizes hospitals and birth centers offering this optimal level of care. Last year, Henry Mayo became the 9th hospital in Los Angeles County and the 121st hospital nationwide to be designated “baby-friendly.” Angela Melero
