Mission Community Hospital to Open New Clinic in San Fernando

Mission Community Hospital is announcing tomorrow the launch of its new clinic in San Fernando. The new clinic aims to be a medical home for the underserved population of San Fernando. The former San Fernando campus of Mission Community Hospital will be renamed the San Fernando Community Health Center. Plans for the new clinic will be unveiled at a ceremony tomorrow morning. The facility expects to provide primary care services as well as specialty care. Tomorrow’s ceremony marks the beginning of renovations of the space, which currently houses a handful of nonprofits. The nonprofits will be able to remain in the space, hospital officials said. Renovations are expected to take about 5 months. Nearly 70 percent of local residents who qualify for federally assisted healthcare are not currently being served by area’s federally qualified health centers, Mission Community officials said. This new facility will provide a full spectrum of primary, specialty and mental health services, in addition to the dental and diabetes services already provided.
