Glendale Hospital Uses Facebook to Recruit New Employees

Glendale Adventist Medical Center’s new employee referral plan has gone viral. The plan utilizes a new Facebook application known as “Work@Employee Referral App.” By referring friends to the new job opportunities at GAMC, current employees have a chance at winning up to $6,000 in cash. Jodi Parrish, employment manager at GAMC, said the new referral program comes at an ideal time, as the center is opening a new tower in December. The application will be instrumental in finding hard to fill positions such as critical care nurses and emergency nurses, she said. “This is a great way for us to get the word out to hundreds of people instantly,” Parish said. The GAMC offers $3,000 for full-time referrals, $1,500 for part-time referrals, and $6,000 if the referral is for critical care or emergency nurses. “This new application will help the hospital find new nurses, and (it) also benefits the current employee who sends the person our way,” Parrish said. —Angela Melero
