West Hills Hospital & Medical Center Receives Crucial Stroke Accreditation

West Hill Hospital & Medical Center, a 229-bed facility in West Hills, has received designation as an Approved Stroke Center (ASC) in Los Angeles County. The accreditation comes from the Emergency Medical Services Agency of Los Angeles County, and makes West Hills Hospital one of 26 ASC facilities in the county. This accreditation was “extremely important” for West Hills, hospital officials said in a statement. Stroke numbers are expected to double by the year 2030 and West Hills Hospital is located in a community that is aging and is home to several large skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities. “A few years ago, we identified a need in the community to provide stroke care, and directed the necessary resources to bring that service where we knew it needed to be,” said Beverly Gilmore, president and CEO. “This accreditation is a wonderful validation for our commitment to our patients.” The hospital recently completed an $80 million expansion that includes a new emergency department, the Grossman Burn Center, an intensive care unit, new outpatient services, cardiac catheterization labs, and facility renovations.
